A diet that includes nuts could have a dramatic impact on a person's chance of colon cancer recurrence, an observational study found. The study's findings will be presented at the upcoming American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting. Researchers found that among people in the study who had stage 3 colon cancer and ate 2 ounces or more nuts or more per week — about 19% of the 826 patients — there was a 46% lower chance of cancer recurrence than among participants who ate fewer than 2 ounces of nuts per week. And those who at nuts also had a 53% lower chance of death than those who didn't.
