USDA, USTR Name PTNPA Members as New Agricultural Trade Advisors

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai announced the appointment or reappointment of 55 members to serve on seven Agricultural Trade Advisory Committees (ATAC), including two PTNPA Members.

Congratulations to Laura Gerhard from Blue Diamond Growers and Rachel Santos from Premium Peanut who will serve until 2028. Ms. Gerhard will serve on the ATAC for Trade in Process Foods and Ms. Santos will serve on the ATAC for Trade in Tobacco, Cotton, Peanuts, and Hemp.

The advisory committee system was created by Congress to ensure that U.S. agricultural stakeholders have input and insight into U.S. trade policy and negotiating objectives. The Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee is comprised of senior representatives from across the U.S. agricultural community who advise the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative on overall trade policy matters, while members of the six Agricultural Technical Advisory Committees provide technical advice and guidance from the perspective of their specific product sectors.

USDA Appoints PTNPA Member to American Pecan Promotion Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture today announced the appointment of seven members to serve on the American Pecan Promotion Board.

Congratulations to Steve Zaffarano of Diamond Foods who will serve a three-year term, effective Oct. 1, 2023, through Sep. 30, 2026.

The American Pecan Promotion Board has 17 members, including 10 domestic manufacturers and seven importers. Members can serve up to two consecutive three-year terms.

Americold Realty Trust Recognized by Global Cold Chain Alliance for Energy Excellence

Dot Foods Breaks Ground on New Distribution Center in Bear, Delaware

Dot Foods, the largest food industry redistributor in North America, continues to grow, officially breaking ground today on its twelfth distribution center. The new $36 million facility will be constructed on 35 acres of land in Bear, about 50 miles southwest of Philadelphia.

The 188,000-square-foot facility will be located at 301 American Boulevard, near the intersection of Red Lion and Wrangle Hill Roads. The development includes offices; dry, refrigerated and frozen warehouse space; and a truck yard and garage to service Dot's fleet.

Associated Oregon Hazelnut Industries, Inc: Holiday Season Spotlight

For the first time since 2002, Oregon has been selected to provide the 2018 Capitol Christmas Tree as part of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Project. From the Willamette National Forest, this 85-foot tree will travel the reverse Oregon Trail to the White House lawn, as 2018 marks the trail’s 175th anniversary. Along the 3,000 mile trek, the tree will make 25 stops along the way for celebrations and parades throughout the country, with 11 stops in Oregon alone.
